3 month Treasury yield dashboard
Product documentation · Updated
The 3 month Treasury yield view in Shield provides short-term U.S. interest-rate context. It uses the Federal Reserve's daily constant-maturity yield series, DGS3MO, distributed through FRED.
Which yield is shown?
DGS3MO is the market yield on U.S. Treasury securities at three-month constant maturity, quoted on an investment basis. The source reports it in percent, at daily frequency, without seasonal adjustment. A value is an observation for its specified date, not a guaranteed return on a particular security you can buy.
How to inspect the history
Open the 3 month Treasury yield risk dashboard, choose 3M Treasury in the chart selector, and select 30D or 90D. The chart shows available dated observations. Follow the source link to compare them with FRED and its release notes.
A yield is different from liquidity
A Treasury yield is a rate. It does not directly measure the bid–ask spread, order-book depth or cost of executing a trade. Shield keeps the yield observation separate from Treasury liquidity, whose direct data feed is currently unavailable. It also keeps Treasury yields separate from the OFR funding stress contribution.
This yield view has no default Watch or Alert cutoff. A higher or lower yield does not, by itself, establish a financial emergency, a future stock-market direction or the liquidity of a particular institution. Use it as context alongside the definitions and source dates of the other observations.
Timing and missing observations
The underlying series is daily. Shield checks the source every six hours and marks daily observations older than five calendar days as stale. Weekends, holidays and publication timing can affect the most recent available date. A page refresh is not a new market observation.
Source and methodology
Verify the series at FRED: DGS3MO, which identifies the Federal Reserve Board's H.15 release as its source. See Shield's sources and methodology for the full indicator inventory and the rules used elsewhere in the monitor.
